Rockstar implementing difficulty levels in Red Dead Redemption

Rockstar’s been known for balancing their open-world games – or GTA if you will – pretty good over the last years but there’s no escaping the fact that some players will always be better than others and will find that some things are just easier than they ever should be. However, in a recent blog entry over at Rockstar’s official website, the developer talks just a little bit about adding “Casual” and “Expert” mode to their upcoming wild wild west fest, Red Dead Redemption.

“We want players of all skill levels to enjoy Red Dead Redemption. With that in mind, we’ve implemented levels of difficulty into the game that employ different types of auto-aiming,” they say.

The result of such wishes are three difficulty levels, each of which have a different shooting mechanic.

“Casual mode gives you a full auto-aim system (and faster regenerating health). Normal mode features snap-to-target with precise aiming using the right stick. Expert mode implements free aim with no lock-on at all.”

“First time we have done this in an open world game, so we will be interested to see what people think having played with each option.”
