Following up on the rumor mill of not even two weeks ago, it’s looking even more likely that we’re going to hear about a sequel to Capcom’s classic fighter Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
As stated before, Capcom has held a massive press event in Hawaii called Captivate. While the details of the event are embargoed until next week, PlanetXbox360 is reporting that they have reliable sources saying the game was indeed present, with the editor noting zero speculation in his mind. Adding to the suspicion is the fact that the official Marvel vs. Capcom Twitter account became active two days ago after two months of absolute silence. What’s more, Marvel’s Agent M (Ryan Penagos) was reportedly in Hawaii to show something he couldn’t talk about.
The details spilt about the game are sparse, and while still unconfirmed, seem a lot more likely. From what the article tells, sounds like it’s going to be like Capcom’s most recent fighters – 2D action rendered in 3D. Also, the roster is apparently mind-blowingly huge. It will likely see release either late this year or early next year for PS3 and Xbox 360, and will be disc-based, not downloadable. For now, though, it also sounds like it will be playable at this year’s E3. The embargo on what exactly went down in Hawaii last week lifts very soon, so time will tell.
