Warner Bros. is eyeing a spring 2011 release for Rocksteady’s still-tentatively-named Batman: Arkham Asylum 2, a senior UK retail source has told CVG.
There have been suggestions that a pre-holiday 2010 release may be possible, however, the publisher is apprently interested in taking advantage of and is looking to “dominate” the first quarter of next year instead; something that’s worked well for a number of titles early this year — Mass Effect 2, Aliens vs Predator, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Heavy Rain, God of War III, to name a few.
“We’ve been told that Warner has acted early to avoid releasing the game into a heavily congested pre-Christmas market,” said the source. “It wants to dominate the first quarter of 2011 instead, when it can get maximum retail space and mindshare amongst gamers.”
Specifics at E3, we’re guessing.
