The Obsidian-developed Fallout: New Vegas will outsell its hugely popular predecessor, Bethesda expects. The response from retailers and gamers alike has led the publisher to believe that the new game, currently slated for a fourth quarter release, will “do even better” than 2008’s Fallout 3.
“We’ve built on the strengths of Fallout 3, what we know worked and added a whole new host of features and touches that further improve the experience,” Bethesda’s global VP of PR and marketing Pete Hines has said.
“Take all of that to a new setting like Las Vegas, which is a great fit for the Fallout brand, and it gives us every reason to believe this can be a huge success for us.”
Fallout 3 will be a tough act to follow though. The game pushed through 4.7 million copies worldwide in its first week alone and managed to outsell the combined total of all previous Fallout games in only two days.
