Price cuts all around before the year’s out, publishing source claims

Both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are in for additional price cuts this year. A senior global publishing source of MCV is “certain” of it.

The deep throat claims that the cuts will be announced before the year’s out, possibly even as soon as during E3 next month, and will see the plartform holders add new SKUs to their line-ups.

Sony is believed to introduce a new entry-level system while Microsoft may bundle in Natal with existing SKUs and keep the price unchanged.

The source also reckons Nintendo may bring down the price of the Wii to hold off possible competition from Project Natal and PlayStation Move, both due this fall. Nintendo UK has dismissed such claims though, “This is total rumour and speculation and we currently have no plans to cut the price of Wii in the UK.”
