Hold the presses, that ‘millions of new Aperture Science recruits‘ wasn’t quite accurate; it’s more like 1.5 million.
In a post on Valve’s Steam blog that goes over yesterday’s additions to Steam for Mac, Valve states that “there have been approximately 1.5 million [free Portal] downloads so far.”
It could become “millions” yet though as Portal continues to carry the price tag of ‘absolutely nothing’ until next Monday, May 24th.
Valve’s also released some interesting factoids on their recent move to Mac: two thirds of Steam Mac users are on a laptop, Portal is five times less likely to crash on a Mac than it is on a PC, and one week after launch 11 percent of all Steam purchases come from Macs.
More data’s coming sometime next month.
