Kalypso Media, most recently known for its dictator sim Tropico 3, has unveiled their next game, The First Templar. The game places us in the 13th century, as both a French Templar knight and a lady noble that has been labeled a heretic, and challenges us to solve the mystery behind the Templar Order. Along the way, we will have to fight corrupt fallen knights who have renounced their oaths, find the secret behind the Holy Grail, and face the Inquisition.
The game will feature a single-player mode which will allow to switch between both characters at will while the game’s AI assumes control of the second hero. And players will want to switch on occasion as each character will possess their own skills and skill sets that can be developed and upgraded as missions are completed and the game’s world explored. Of course, we could always grab a friend as the game will also incorporate drop in/drop out co-op so that at any moment a buddy can assist us in smiting the wicked.
Due out in the first quarter of 2011, The First Templar is slated to hit the Xbox 360 and PC. Until then, check out the first screens in the gallery.
