Nintendo’s upcoming handheld, the 3DS, is already setting up to be quite an impressive machine. There’s going to be no-glasses 3D and maybe a rumble feature as well. However, according to IGN, the 3DS’s most impressive asset could be a processor that pushes the system’s power past even that of the Wii and brings it closer to processing capabilities associated with the PS3 or Xbox 360.
That sounds crazy, so let’s take it with a grain of salt for now, especially since IGN is citing developers talking “off the record.” Still, for the 3DS to be powerful enough to produce the no-glasses 3D effect, each game field must be produced twice, so we can already assume that it will be at least twice as capable as the DSi.
We’ll find out a whole lot more about the 3DS when E3 begins on June 15. Patience, patience, patience.
