CVG reckon the Star Wars: Starfighter series is being revived. And we could be hearing more at E3 next week.
According to “a US publishing source” close to LucasArts, the new game is being developed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
The series has been frozen in carbonite since 2002, when Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter hit PS2 and Xbox.
Star Wars games are a mixed bunch, varying in quality from “pretty cool” to “please cut my thumbs off now.” The Starfighter titles were, thankfully, in the good group.
So far the series has taken place within the prequel trilogy’s timeline. Could the next-gen version be set within the confines of the proper, not-rubbish trilogy? Yes please.
If it’s all true, that is. The LucasArts spokespeople are sticking with the “rumour and speculation” line. So until the rumoured E3 reveal, it’ll remain just that. A rumour.
