Nintendo’s new 3DS will release this December and its launch will attempt to emulate that of the Wii, “a high-ranking UK retail source” has whispered to CVG.
According to the deep throat, marketing is set to begin in October with the handheld itself expected to arrive in the shops shortly before the holidays, but even then only in limited quantities.
“Early indications to us are that the launch is going to emulate Wii in December,” the source says. “We’ve been informed that Nintendo wanted a long run-up to Christmas, but now it’s going to be a close-run thing. We’re not expecting a lot of stock before next year.”
Nintendo itself hasn’t committed to anything other than a pre-March 21, 2011 worldwide launch.
