When Activision announced that Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Army of Darkness) would sit at the director’s helm on the upcoming World of Warcraft motion picture, there was hope the picture might not be terrible. But since then, neither Raimi nor Activision has said much about the project.
That changed recently, as Raimi gushed some intriguing details on the project.
Interviewed outside the Saturn Awards in Los Angeles, Raimi said he “loves the environments Blizzard has created,” further saying they are “incredibly, engrossingly terrifying.” But he didn’t stop talking there.
“We’re still working on the story,” Raimi said. “We have a 40 page document that needs a lot more work… We’re finding the characters and through the characters we’re finding the story…. we’re trying to create realistic characters that can live in the world of Warcraft, as though you were in the game itself.”
The World of Warcraft film is due in 2013, and as you can tell, is still very much in the pre-production stage.
