The next full, non-downloadable Tomb Raider game will arrive during holiday season 2011, an unnamed source has told Eurogamer.
According to the deep throat, developer Crystal Dynamics has wrapped up work on this summer’s series offshoot Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and has turned its attention towards the next game in the series, with the entire studio remaining exclusively dedicated to the long-running franchise.
The source was also able to confirm that last summer’s reports (and the artwork above) of a reboot starring a “young and inexperienced Lara Croft” investigating tombs on an island off the coast of Japan were indeed related to this new title. That would possibly make it a mature-rated, open-world, multiplayer-equipped affair then.
Parent company Square Enix had no comment on the matter.
