It’s hard to believe Rock Band has only been around since 2007, yet is has. Since the game debuted it’s amassed over 1,500 songs in its Music Store, but when the game launched there were a mere 15 songs available to download. One of them? Yeah, it was a cover version of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Fortunate Son.”
Fast forward several years and Harmonix and MTV Games have decided its time to bring the real song, and more of the band’s greatest hits, to the Music Store.
Below are master recordings (thank goodness!). The songs will be available July 6 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii at $2 a pop, or $20 for the collection.
“Bad Moon Rising”
“Born on the Bayou”
“Down on the Corner”
“Fortunate Son” (original version)
“I Heard It Through the Grapevine”
“Lookin’ Out My Back Door”
“Run Through the Jungle”
“Up Around the Bend”
“Who’ll Stop the Rain”
Harmonix has named the pack the “Creedence Clearwater Revival Pack 01,” so it’s likely fans will get more from the group sometime in the future.
Anyone going to pick up any of these tracks? I’d like to, but John Fogerty’s voice is so damn unique. He sings right in the zone that I just can’t seem to hit effectively.
