That “big announcement” from Visceral Games we told you about? It indeed has something to do with the runes hidden in the image, as EA has announced Dead Space Ignition, the first of “many exciting game extensions” planned for Dead Space 2.
Ignition will tell the back story of how Isaac Clarke wound up battling Necromorphs in Dead Space 2, showing us first hand how events unfolded. Using an interactive comic book style, Ignition will offer up a “choose your own adventure” style of gameplay, eventually leading to four different endings. Upon completing each ending, the game will reward the player with various unlocks, including an exclusive in-game suit that Isaac can wear in Dead Space 2.
“The interactive comic-style game will give Dead Space fans a unique perspective on the events leading up to Dead Space 2, but will also introduce the storyline to a brand-new audience of gamers,” said Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer of the Dead Space franchise.
Dead Space Ignition won’t be just about choosing A, B, or C though. The game will offer puzzle solving, split-second reaction gameplay and will contain three new hacking mini-games: Hardware Crack, Trace Route and System Override.
Look for Dead Space Ignition to hit Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network sometime this fall, and Dead Space 2 invading North America and Europe on January 25, 2011 and January 28, 2011, respectively.
