PlayStation Move, Sony’s new motion control technology, is set to hit shelves this fall and Sony is treating it as if they are “launching a new platform,” says Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida; when it comes to pricing, that is.
After losing a pantsload of money on the PlayStation 3 before turning a profit, the company has faith that the return will be more substantial this time around.
“So because the install base of Move will help third party studios create games for it,” says Yoshida, “we benefit by helping those third-parties. But we are not losing money with each one we sell.”
Expect to see Move on European shelves September 15, with North America set for September 19, and Japan on October 31.
