The Assassin’s Creed series taking a sabbatical may not be happening after all.
“The decision is not theirs,” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said on the company’s earnings call earlier today; words that echo and follow those of associate producer Jean-Francois Boivin who believes the franchise is in need of break.
“I believe that this license needs a breather,” Boivin said just last week. “You can’t plough a field every year.”
Guillemot wouldn’t confirm or deny any future plans today, only saying “it would not be right to comment right now” — a sign that the discussion is yet to be had internally, perhaps.
