Heavy Rain went down well both critically and (more surprisingly) commercially, so it’s no shock that people are already looking forward to the next project from developer Quantic Dream. Best double that excitement because the studio is working on not one but two new projects, past the Move patch for their PS3 debut that is.
“We currently work on two very different projects,” David Cage, boss man at Quantic, has revealed.
“After the success of Heavy Rain, we continue to explore how we can go further with interactive drama, working on emotion and interactive storytelling for a mature audience, but with a very different story and a different approach.”
Cage has stated in the past that he will not be doing a sequel to Heavy Rain, but that was before the title made him a rich man. Maybe there’s still a chance we’ll see Ethan Mars and co in action again.
Or maybe not, “Often, after a long and challenging project like Heavy Rain, it is difficult for the team to get excited again about a new idea. This is absolutely not the case at the moment at Quantic and all the team seems enthusiastic about the possibility of other projects.”
Okay so it’s probably not Heavy Rain 2, and we know it’s not the rumored Horizon, so it’s anyone’s guess as to what the team are making. Hopefully we’ll find out soon.
