Microsoft cancels 1 vs. 100

Perhaps you enjoyed Microsoft’s Avatar-based interactive game show, 1 vs. 100, or perhaps you did not. Either way, Microsoft recently announced that a third season of the show isn’t going to happen, and those looking to win prizes on Xbox Live will have to look elsewhere.

“When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept,” said Dave McCarthy, General Manager, Microsoft Game Studios. “We’re very proud of the ‘1 vs 100’ team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we’ve learned to future programming.”

Microsoft goes on to say the Beta season of 1 vs. 100 attracted 114,000 simultaneous users, but I guess that wasn’t enough to keep the show afloat. According to the gaming giant, the 1 vs. 100 team is now “focusing their skills and applying the technology used to develop “1 vs 100” to new projects that will be unveiled in the future.”

Boo! 1 vs. 100 was a phenomenal idea, and in my perspective, a hell of a lot of fun. Dear Microsoft, if you don’t come back with something bigger and better, I’ma be mad!
