The launch of Microsoft’s redesigned Xbox 360 in the UK last Friday has been successful enough to best any competing ‘revised’ console launches in history, the data collectors at Chart-Track report. That’s the releases of PS2′s and PS3′s slimmed down designs then.
The new look went over as well as the system’s initial launch back in 2005 even. A feat “even more impressive when you take into account that the original Xbox 360 was launched across two versions (Pro and Core),” Chart-Track notes.
Microsoft had a good week on the software front as well; even if it does edge out Ubisoft’s rising star Dance on Broadway by a mere 800 copies — and despite a 36% drop in week-over-week sales — the Xbox 360 exclusive Crackdown 2 can now claim that it’s remained the best-selling game in the country for three consecutive weeks.
Beyond that, thing were rather stale. The only newcomer of the week is Toy Story 3 which grabs the 5th spot, and perhaps adding just a little excitement are the comebacks of Alan Wake and BioShock 2 which, thanks to retailer promotions, have risen from the 23rd to 11th and the 24th to 12th positions, respectively.
