StarCraft II‘s previously reported development costs of $100 million+ is a figure incorrect.
Last week the Wall Street Journal ran a story which attached the lofty figure to the imminent RTS, but as it turns out, it’s the right number but the wrong game; the 100 million number applies to the development of the studio’s ever-popular MMO World of Warcraft.
WSJ has since published a retraction (via).
What StarCraft II‘s actual development costs are remains a mystery, as Blizzard isn’t talking.
The game’s out next Tuesday worldwide. In the meanwhile, don’t miss out on the latest trailer here.
