Capcom aiming for more major game releases

Capcom is looking to increase the output of new entries in their big franchises to three or four per year, Andriasang reports.

The publisher’s plan is to start leveraging US and European outsourcers, ideally shortening the development-to-launch cycle from four to two-three years.

In addition, with disappointing sales of internationally-developed games like Bionic Commando and Dark Void, Capcom is also looking to have international developers work more closely with Capcom’s core dev team.

It seems like we may already be feeling the effects of the new goal, too, as new installments such as Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike‘s rerelease, Street Fighter X Tekken (and vice versa), and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 have all been announced this year.
