Sega posts big profit in spite of medicore software sales

It is true that Sega is reporting a $80.8 million profit for the quarter ending June 30. However, the source of their success is mostly unrelated to software. Both Iron Man 2 and Alpha Protocol sold a somewhat unspectacular number of units, with Iron Man 2 moving just over a million globally and Alpha Protocol just 700,000.

Sega made a good deal of their money from pachinko and slot machines back home in Japan, where they actually only sold 270,000 videogames out of a total of 3.29 million worldwide.
