StarCraft II has become the fastest-selling strategy game of all time, Blizzard’s declared today.
According to key distributors and information from sources public and internal, the title’s day one worldwide sales add up to 1 million+ copies, and 1.5 million in the first 48 hours.
That makes it the year’s best-selling PC game, too.
The numbers represent all areas the game launched in last Tuesday, those being North America, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
This follows similar news from the UK where the game debuted at the top of the country’s weekly all-formats sales charts while surpassing its predecessor’s life-to-date physical sales in just a handful of days.
Analysts have speculated the game could sell 4.5 million copies by the end of September and surpass the 6.5 million mark before the year’s out.
