And this week’s Bayonetta announcement is…

…a budget re-release.

After getting a little excited over a Tweet from Bayonetta director Yusuke Hashimoto earlier in the week, it turns out that the new info on the game appears to be little more than an announcement of a budget re-release on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Scheduled for a Japanese release on September 2, the new version will retail at ¥3,990 (approx $46) and will feature a pink limited edition sleeve with illustrated box art.

Japanese gamers will also get the title with a “Trailer Collection” which includes a trailer for Shinji Mikami’s upcoming action shooter Vanquish – other titles included in this collection have not been confirmed.

Also unconfirmed is whether we’re likely to see this version of the game reaching Western shores in the near future – with the game approaching its first birthday, it wouldn’t be a surprise if SEGA followed suit internationally too.

Though we cannot completely rule out another last-minute announcement this week, there’s a strong chance this is all the Bayonetta lovin’ we’re getting from PlatinumGames for the time being.
