It seems that a PC version of Alan Wake is currently unlikely. How unlikely? Try “not on the cards”; franchise development head Oskari Häkkinen has told Eurogamer that a PC version would require too much to do properly.
“It’s not a simple process. It’s not something you can do in a month or two months. It takes time to do it right,” he said. “We want the Remedy brand to be a seal of quality. Doing a half-assed PC version wouldn’t be an option for us. Rather, if we do it, we’ll do it properly.”
Häkkinen summed up his point by saying: “It takes development time. It takes resources. At this time it’s not on the cards.”
This may be a second heartbreak for many, as Alan Wake was originally a title announced for PC but was shifted to the Xbox 360 before its release. Despite the heartbreak, constraints are constraints, and it may be time to leave that dream behind.
