Gamescom is in full motion and one of the bigger announcements was the one made by BioWare when they let a short yet effective teaser tell the rest of the world that their award-winning franchise Mass Effect would be coming to Sony’s PlayStation 3 in January next year. Although, that would be half the truth…
Mass Effect, the first game, will not see a release on PS3. We’re not saying ever, but yeah, ever. Due to this, BioWare has decided to add bonus features bundled with Mass Effect 2 that will indeed release its astronomical glory to PS3. Although vague about it, BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka has let loose a few details.
“One of the things we’re doing is that we’re bringing a lot of the post-release downloadable content and will integrate it into the experience, so that PS3 fans can check that out and play it,” said Muzyka. ”We’re making sure there’s a really seamless introduction to the world of Mass Effect, for players that haven’t experienced it before, so even though it’s Mass Effect 2 specifically, we’re making sure there’s a nice introduction experience, that provides the back-story and the things that have happened up to that point in the universe, and makes it a really seamless introduction.”
He wouldn’t give any specifics, but they never do so we’re not sweating it. However, he did throw out the possibility of Mass Effect 3 coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, saying it would be a “good guess.”
“That’d be a good guess, but we haven’t announced any details on any future formats or anything, or even formally announced Mass Effect 3 yet, although there’s a natural assumption that there will be a Mass Effect 3 as it’s a trilogy. We’ve said that and more or less confirmed it, but we haven’t announced any details on the product yet, or the platforms,” explained Muzyka.
