Torchlight to “hopefully” hit PSN and XBLA for the holidays, has sold 750,000 units to date

A lot of Torchlight news lately. With sprinkling details about the free-to-play MMO, a sequel with multiplayer announced and this trailer, it’s clear Runic’s been busy with their downloadable hit. One thing this could game could certainly benefit from is a little action on the consoles as well. Good news: sounds like they’ve been busy with that, too.

At Gamescom, CEO Max Schaefer mentioned that Runic’s been putting “serious effort” into console versions of the game for a good amount of time now, and that they’re at a point where they’re hoping for a holiday release on both XBLA and PSN. And on that note of “downloadable hit,” he mentioned that to date the game has sold more than 750,000 units and is well on its way to hitting 1 million. Not bad for a ten month long project, and hopefully it gets its due on consoles later this year as well.
