PC gaming “critical” to Microsoft

When Microsoft shuttered Ensemble and ACES, the developers behind Age of Empires and Flight Simulator, respectively, some people made the logical jump that the tech giant was turning its back on PC gaming. Not so, sayeth European Xbox executive Chris Lewis.

While announcing two new entries in the admired franchises, Age of Empires Online and Microsoft Flight, Lewis explained that Microsoft is still committed to the PC: “PC is such a part and parcel of what Microsoft is associated with. So it’s great to be here to talk about Microsoft Flight and Age of Empires. Age of Empires is a huge franchise – especially in Germany – 20 million sold in its life with 13 iterations.”

Lewis went on to call the PC a “critical” platform for Microsoft games. So don’t pack up those laser mouses just yet! Even if Fable III did get delayed.
