Capcom are making good on their promise of new games for TGS; they’ve revealed a new title for PS3/360. Titled Asura’s Wrath, the game runs on Unreal Engine 3 and features an incredibly angry main character doing battle with super powerful gods. Sounds… biblical!
The story goes that the god Asura is betrayed by his own kind and stripped of his powers, thus seeking revenge. Sound like someone you know? No, I don’t think Kratos is going to be too happy to find out about this either. Still, don’t let that put you off the trailer above; it’s completely barking mental. It’s also set to follow an episodic pattern that may well pave the way for DLC.
Cyber Connect 2 are the developers behind the project (they’re responsible for a few Naruto games). The heads behind the studio, Hiroshi Matsuyama and Seiji Shimoda took to the stage during Capcom’s media briefing today to reveal that they’re focusing on three things: wrath, serial drama, and experience. That’s a pretty interesting mix. Apparently you’re meant to be thinking “is this really a game?” while playing; we’re guessing they mean in a “I can’t believe this is possible!” sense, not a “I can’t believe they’ve made something so bad” sense.
No word yet on when we’ll experience the wrath for ourselves. First screens in the gallery here.
