3D glasses a downer, Itagaki says, but Devil’s Third may support the tech

Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive man Tomonobu Itagaki’s Valhalla Game Studios’ firstborn, Devil’s Third, may make use of an extra dimension, the creator said at the Tokyo Game Show last week.

“It’s not a game that’s built around [3D],” he told Impress Watch (via), “but I’d like to at least offer it as an option.”

“I know we can make it compatible on PS3. Xbox 360 too can also be made compatible if we do it side by side.”

While 3D tellys are the thing Itagaki’s “most interested in” at the moment — he also owns one — the tech does have its shortcomings, he acknowledges, pointing to the mandatory glasses. As positives, however, he points out wider expressive power and impact of the visuals.

Devil’s Third, 3D or not, is still two new year’s celebrations off though; the game currently has a vague 2012 release window.
