Making Dead Rising 2‘s downloadable prologue and epilogue available only on Xbox 360 is Capcom’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to the audience that made the franchise a success in the first place, says Capcom co-producer Shinsaku Ohara.
“Dead Rising was our very first Xbox 360 title and Microsoft supported the title all the way,” Ohara says. “At the beginning we didn’t know that this new IP would be a success, but the fans on the console really assisted in making it into one. So it’s like a present, something that we gave back to the original Dead Rising fans.”
Dead Rising launched on the Xbox 360 only.
The two downloadable offerings add to the Dead Rising 2 universe, Ohara also says, but PS3 owners can still expect a game that’s “completely designed to be a self-contained and enjoyable experience, beginning to end, regardless of the prologue and the epilogue.”
Case 0 was a considerable success on Xbox Live Arcade. As of September 15th, roughly two weeks after its release, the prologue had sold over half a million copies.
A release window for the Case West epilogue — debut trailer above — hasn’t been set yet.
