GOG stunt leads to relaunch

Good Old Games is far from dead; the service heads today announced that the closing of the site was a mere stunt meant to generate publicity for its relaunch, which it certainly managed well.

The new version will launch this week and will mark the end of the service’s 2-year beta stage with “new, huge releases,” a new message on the site reads, along with an apology for the confusion: “First of all we would like to apologize everyone who felt deceived or harmed in any way by us closing down GOG.com without any warning and without giving access to your games. We apologize for that from the bottom of our hearts!”

The new GOG.com will be up tomorrow at 8.00 a.m. EDT (2 p.m. CET).
