Capcom dishes on the new Dante

Capcom wants you to believe in their controversial redesign of Devil May Cry‘s bad boy, Dante. After the raven-haired reboot of the half-demon hero was announced last week (to many a fan’s chagrin), the internet has been all abuzz with speculation. Laying some of that nervous whinnying to rest is Capcom’s own Alex Jones, who says that the new Dante can be likened to Daniel Craig’s rough-around-the-edges portrayal of  James Bond in the 2006 Casino Royale reboot in that both are intended to detail just how their respective heroes climbed the long ladder from fledgling wannabes to the calm, cool and collected badasses we’ve all come to know and love.

Capcom’s Hideaki Itsuna also chimed in to reassure the fans. “Of course long-time fans are worried about us handing over such a big title to another company, another development team,” said the dev (who’s worked on all four previous Devil May Cry titles) with regard to the latest entry being handled by Ninja Theory (of Heavenly Sword fame), “[but] they’re very serious about making this game good.”

Not much else is known about the game just yet, but if you haven’t already, check out the first batch of screens here and pass your own judgment.
