During New York’s Comic-Con, Capcom kept at their usual baby steps towards the full roster of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and announced four new characters: Capcom’s Nathan ‘Rad’ Spencer from Bionic Commando and Arthur from Ghouls n’ Ghosts along with Marvel’s Magneto and M.O.D.O.K.
Old veterans will immediately recognize Magneto’s infamous moves, as his hyper grav, magnetic tempest, and magnetic shockwave abilities make a triumphant return to terrorize players of all ages. Capcom’s Spencer makes use of his grappling arm, using it for everything from swinging to restarting a combo and anything in between–veterans of the recent Blazblue: Continuum Shift may recognize his playstyle to mirror Hazama’s, as both use grappling hooks as their main gimmick in combat. Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K., admittedly a wacky and unexpected addition to MvC3, makes up for his lack of physicality by being a a long distance character with psychic mirrors, bullets, and all sorts of craziness. Arthur is undoubtedly the most true-to-form character out of the four, maintaining his love for throwing lances, making exaggerated jumps, and even losing his armor–some old school nostalgia will definitely be raised with Arthur’s inclusion.
Keep on the lookout for more characters to be announced for the game, as we have a while to go before Spring 2011 hits.
