Raven Software hit by layoffs

It’s being reported that Raven Software, the studio behind Soldier of Fortune, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Quake 4, and more recently both Wolfenstein and Singularity, has been hit by layoffs.

According to “sources” familiar with the situation, around 40 people were let go and the only thing Activision had to say was that “with the recent completion of Singularity, Raven Software is realigning its workforce to better reflect the studio’s upcoming slate,” refusing the mentioning of specific details.

Again, “sources” say that the layoffs are due to the developer refocusing its efforts on downloadable content. Raven Software has been around since 1990 and is without a doubt a senior player in this game. Unfortunately, desperate times require desperate measures, no matter how experienced you are. All the best to those affected by this situation.
