Dead Space was a game that instantly made a name for developer Visceral Games (even if they weren’t called that at the time). Their next game, Dante’s Inferno, didn’t fare so well with lower review scores. That’s why the team have put full force into Dead Space 2 but aren’t as keen to confirm a Dante sequel.
Associate producer Zach Mumbach recently spoke to Joystiq about the possibility, saying: “I’m sure that if enough people are like, ‘I got 60 dollars for Purgatory or Paradiso,’ then we would make that game. But I don’t know. I don’t get to make those decisions.”
He also revealed that EA wasn’t pressuring the team for annual sequels: “I think they do a real good job. I’ve never felt like, ‘We should be doing this, but EA is making us do that.’ Especially since JR’s [CEO John Riccitiello] come on board . JR’s like ‘Make good games. I need good games, give me good games.'”
Dead Space 2 is on track for January next year.
