Sony: PS Move EU sales exceeding expectations, “strong” holiday ahead

PlayStation Move’s month 1 European sales land “somewhere in the region of 1.5 million units,” Sony Europe boss Andrew House has revealed. Quite impressive?

Sales have been “very significant,” he said in a recent chat with Bloomberg, adding that the motion controller has performed “so far in excess of our initial plan that we’ll probably be looking at accelerating production.”

Other Sony hardware isn’t worse off; the exec expects “very, very strong” Christmas holiday sales for both the PSP and PlayStation 3, for which the target’s set at 15 million units by the end of the fiscal year.

House also addressed the recent Gran Turismo 5 slip and painted it “a small, minor delay in terms of the last stages of getting the game released.” The company’s “very confident” it’ll still launch in 2010.
