According to a report, Microsoft is backing the Kinect marketing effort with half a billion dollars. That’s a heck of a lot of money, but never fear, it’ll be distributed throughout the following campaigns: Burger King promotion, Pepsi promotion, Kellogg’s cereal promotion, YouTube home page takeover, ad buys on Nickelodeon/Disney sites, ad buys on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” and Fox’s “Glee”, ad buys on Time Inc.’s People and InStyle, Times Square event.
I’ve yet to see one piece of Kinect marketing. Maybe I’m just missing them, but either way, with the device due out on Nov. 4 in the US, now would be a time to get that marketing engine revving. Not that they need to, apparently.
