Sega is “reasonably encouraged” by the early performance of its just-published on-crack shooter Vanquish, the publisher has said following last week’s release of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game.
Talking to IGN about the PlatinumGames-developed third-person actioner’s sales, Sega West CEO Mike Hayes said: “It’s been in the marketplace for two days, we’ve seen the day one numbers and we’re reasonably encouraged, but I think we need to see the rest of week one and probably week two just to see how it’s going to play out.”
West was talking specifically about the North American sales but provided no actual figures.
He added: “The challenge is that it’s a new franchise and that it’s releasing head-to-head with a lot of established franchises in the busiest time of the year.”
According to yesterday’s news, the game debuted at #12 on the UK’s weekly all-formats sales chart.
