Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 (I actually remembered that whole title without looking it up) has gone on to outsell publisher Namco Bandai’s bigger game, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West; who’d a thunk it?
The company recently revealed its sales forecasts compared to the actual figures and sadly only two games managed to achieve their targets. Naruto sold 300k more than planned and achieved an impressive 1 million sales, while Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction sold 800K, a whole 100k more than they expected it to. Congrats to Naruto and Ben, then but the rest of the company’s line-up isn’t up to scratch.
While Enslaved was originally expected to hit the 1 million mark it only managed to sell 800K. That’s not too bad, but we were hoping to see the AAA title perform a little better. Other games like Dead to Rights either sold well below expectations or have been forecast to do so. It’s a bit of a grim outcome, which is a shame considering the publisher’s willingness to produce niche titles. Let’s hope this hasn’t stirred their stance on bringing us that sort of content.
