It’s official; Call of Duty: Black Ops is the fastest-selling game of all time in the UK.
Figures provided to MCV by the country’s data collector GFK Chart-Track reveal that the Treyarch shooter has topped previous record holder and predecessor Modern Warfare 2‘s Day 1 sales by 22 percent. That makes 1.4 million copies the new 24-hour record to beat.
Activision yesterday announced that, according to their internal estimates, the game generated $360 million (5.6 million copies) in day one in NA and the UK combined. And it’s only expected to continue; MW2‘s 5-day ($550m) and holiday sales ($1b+) milestones should be beaten next, the publisher was hopeful while presenting the BMO Capital Markets 18th Annual Digital Entertainment Conference yesterday.
