Sony can talk all they want about their undeniably impressive 3D technology, but it means absolutely nothing if there aren’t any games to play it on. That’s not a problem according to Mike Hoking though. The SCEE studio director has revealed that more than 50 games are getting the 3D treatment, with over 20 of those being internally developed.
“We’re applying 3D to more than 20 internal games at Sony,” he told Develop, “It’s a very positive thing to see the great level of interest in 3D from our development studios. Overall we have more than 50 titles currently being converted into 3D, and this number is growing fast.”
He was also quick to emphasise that there are some top quality games in list: “Some of them are massive names. That’s a really, really good sign that the industry is behind our unique message that 3D is a key element in the future of home consoles.”
Sony is offering help to all developers wanting to get in on the 3D experience. Hopefully they also start talking about cheaper 3D TVs soon.
