Sony’s offered up a word of warning for those hoping to secure a PlayStation Move controller in time for the holidays: act sooner rather than later. Stock is going to be limited until January, the company says, as it apparently misjudged demand for the motion device.
There’s plenty of $299 console bundles to go around but stand-alone Move controllers will be hard to come by, Peter Dille, Sony’s senior vice president of marketing in the U.S., tells VentureBeat.
“That bodes well for the holiday selling season. We have a catch-up problem in all three territories that will last until January or February.”
Competitor Microsoft issued a similar warning for Kinect last week, with Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business boss Don Mattrick advising to pre-order asap.
