A previous report on Kinect’s performance in Japan may have been a bit exaggerated; the latest Media Create figures show that the Microsoft motion sensor sold through a proportional 26,000 units in its first few days of availability.
As written yesterday, the device also caused a hardware spike in the country: Xbox 360 sales were up almost threefold over the previous week.
Still, the data collector describes the device’s debut as a “quiet launch” and says its numbers reached roughly half of PlayStation Move’s October launch.
To compare, Kinect sold 1 million units worldwide in its first 10 days.
