Popular iOS game Angry Birds‘ jump to Android has proven to be an extremely successful endeavour; the puzzler has been downloaded over seven million times, its Finnish developer Rovio has revealed.
Responding to a Twitter comment regarding not all Android games being free, Rovio responded: “true, but the ones with more than 50K downloads are… We just hit 7M downloads on Android.”
The 1 million milestone was reached within a day of its launch in mid-October. The game was made available free-of-charge and follows the ad-supported strategy; how much revenue it’s been generating remains unanswered.
Angry Birds is, “for starters,” also expected to launch on Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
