Second Ghostbusters game this spring hitting PSN, XBLA, PC

Those looking to bust some ghosts again will only have to wait as long as Spring 2011. Atari and Sony have confirmed that Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is in development by Wanako and will release on PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and PC.

The game appears to be a top down shooter in the style of Gauntlet meets Assault Heroes, one of Wanako’s previous releases, and places us in the role of the rookie hired by the crew in the original Ghostbusters: The Video Game. This time around ghost busting will turn into a cooperative affair, either online or locally, with up to four people putting on virtual proton packs in order to save the city.

While none of the original cast members are slated to appear in this iteration, gigantic boss battles are to be expected that will require every bit of ghost busting technology, including the proton stream, plasma inductor, and fermion shock. Not enough? We will also get to drive one of the ghost buster’s cars, the Ecto-3.
