Next WoW expansion might feature new land

Are you as excited as Jason Statham is over World of Warcraft: Cataclysm? You should be. It revamps Azeroth to make you feel like you’re in an entirely new world. But even with the add-on out just today, there’s already talk of the next expansion, which may literally take you to an entirely new place, according to lead systems designer Greg Street.

Street tells CVG that revamping the existing continent is “unlikely” and instead they may go for a “new continent approach…more like the Burning Crusade or Nothrend, where we send players somewhere that they haven’t seen before.” Of course, that might have an adverse effect on the story: “On the other hand we have this weird story now where you almost go back in time when you hit the Burning Crusade and Lich King content. We’re going to have to do something to bring that up to speed.”

After today’s release, the team will work on fixing bugs in Cataclysm, though Street was quick to add: “We want to get expansions out on fairly regular schedules so we can’t really sit back for too long.”
