Blizzard Entertainment this morning announced that the third expansion for World of Warcraft sold a gargantuan 3.3 million units in its first 24 hours.
Cataclysm released simultaneously in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Europe, Russia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand on December 7, where some 10,000 stores opened at midnight for all sorts of Azeroth-themed revelry.
The 3.3 million unit figure makes Cataclysm the fastest selling PC game of all time, dethroning the 2.4 million copies of Wrath of the Lich King sold in 24 hours in 2008.
Additionally, Blizzard noted in today’s statement that in order to help support the hugely popular game, there are numerous job openings at Blizzard. Want a job? Check out the openings here.
