Bad news for JC Denton followers; Deus Ex: Human Revolution has slipped back into later 2011. Publisher Square Enix has delayed the title after “harsh market feedback regarding a key title”. That’d be Final Fantasy XIV then, and they don’t want a repeat of that.
“With weak sales performance of console game titles that have been newly released during the current fiscal year as well as harsh market feedback regarding a key title,” a Squeenix note to investors states, “the Group recognizes the reinforcement of development capability in our Digital Entertainment segment as our most critical managerial issue.”
Looks like they learned an important lesson with FFXIV, which has been universally slated by critics, “We therefore have decided to spend additional time to further polish our upcoming game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, resulting in a shift in release timing from our prior plan of the current fiscal year to next fiscal year.”
April 2011 is when the next fiscal year starts but we’re willing to bet it’s due out a good while after that date. Annoying, but at least we’re bound to get a more polished version of an already impressive-looking game.
