Kinect improvement rumors are false according to Microsoft

One of the caveats of using the internet is that sometimes not all the information you read is a hundred percent accurate. In the case of the recent rumors that the Kinect was to get a firmware update to improve the peripheral’s accuracy, it would seem that those rumors are unfortunately false.

A Microsoft spokesperson has stepped in to comment: “We’re constantly working to expand and improve on experiences for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE, however, this rumour is completely unsubstantiated.”

In fact it appears that Microsoft is quite content with how the Kinect is currently doing as the spokesperson went on to praise the hardware: “We couldn’t be more pleased with the fidelity of the technology and clearly consumers agree given we sold more than 2.5 million units around the world in the first 25 days Kinect was on the market.”
